You see me, but you don’t know

the name that goes with the face.

You are told that we have met,

but not the time, reason or place.

Once I was your ‘everything’,

you, to me still are.

Then they cut me from your mind

and stuck me in a jar.

I’ll try again tomorrow

and again, the day after that.

I’ll keep hoping for a glimmer,

some sign I have you back.

They tell me it just takes time.

I have plenty of that now.

But I try because I love you,

not just to honor a vow.

You don’t know me from Adam,

so I may as well be he.

I’m willing to be someone else
